Enjoy the Lazy Days of Summer with the STAINMASTER® Carpet Stain Removal Guide

ATLANTA (April 19, 2006) – Once the spring-cleaning tasks are done, it is time to lay back and enjoy the summer. The Summer Stain Removal Guide for STAINMASTER® carpet is designed to help you quickly and easily handle carpet mishaps and spend more time with family and friends. And should summer fun make its way indoors, these recommended cleaning solutions, along with instructions below for STAINMASTER® carpet, will treat the most common stains that occur this time of year.

For charcoal: Mix ¼ cup of liquid dish detergent in one cup of warm water. Using a whisk or beater, whip the solution until you have created a sudsy foam. Use only the foam on the carpet. (Note: It may be necessary to increase the amount of detergent to generate enough suds to create foam.)

For ketchup, soft drinks and beer: Mix ¼ teaspoon of mild liquid dish soap with one cup of warm water or prepare a vinegar solution with two tablespoons white vinegar mixed with four cups of warm water.

For mustard: Mix ¼ teaspoon of mild liquid dish soap with one cup of warm water.

Stain Removal Instructions : Before tackling most stains, promptly scoop up and blot, don't rub, as much of the spill as possible, then vacuum up any dry particles. Prepare the recommended cleaning solution for each stain, allowing the solution to remain on the spill for at least five minutes. Pre-test the solution on an inconspicuous spot of carpet, then apply the cleaning solution to the stain area, working from the outside of the stain toward the center. Rinse with cold water, blot away the excess cleaning solution, then vacuum when dry.
