INVISTA APPAREL SPONSORS GLOBAL LAUNCH OF THE BE ECOCHIC™ AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AT NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

New York (September 2008) - INVISTA Apparel, a business division of one of the world's largest integrated fibers manufacturer, is one of the sponsors of the inaugural Be EcoChic™ runway presentation at New York Fashion Week. Scheduled for Thursday, September 4th at the Milstein Hall of Oceans in the American Museum of Natural History, the show will feature looks from top international designers, each crafted with fabrics that are environmentally conscious.

Through its pairing with the Be EcoChic™ campaign, INVISTA Apparel underscores its commitment toward environmental stewardship. INVISTA is using this sponsorship as a platform for launching PLANET AGENDA, a new framework for environmental initiatives in the apparel industry, which centers upon the belief that textile science can deliver insights, technology, processes and products that can help the apparel industry grow in sustainable ways. INVISTA Apparel's sponsorship of the Be EcoChic™ awareness campaign and runway show is supported by the contribution of fabrics made by several of INVISTA's leading mill customers for LYCRA® brand fiber, including Brimadona, Eclat, Eurojersey, ISKO, RT Knits, Sunikorn and United Knitting.

Margaret Jacob, recently appointed to the position of Sustainability Director, INVISTA Apparel, believes the launch of PLANET AGENDA and the collaboration with Be EcoChic™ recognizes the value to our customers of reducing the environmental impact of products and the role INVISTA can play to help heighten environmental awareness and responsibility.

"Our industry, like many others, is making diligent efforts to meet market demand while reducing the environmental impact of products," states Jacob. "The opportunity provided to INVISTA through the Be EcoChic™ campaign will help us to increase consumer awareness of the contributions they can make through thoughtful garment purchase and use. We want to draw attention to the importance of a holistic approach to sustainable growth.. When attributes such as durability, easy care and garment wear life are considered, synthetics such as LYCRA® fiber can improve performance while reducing the environmental impact of apparel. In addition, LYCRA® fiber can enhance the performance of apparel containing natural fibers."

The Be EcoChic™ launch event, hosted by model/activist Angela Lindvall, will feature looks created by Laura Bennett, Red Carter, Christian Cota, FORM and Thread Social, each fashioned from fabrics containing LYCRA® fiber. Additionally, looks from Carmen Marc Valvo, Chado Ralph Rucci, Del Forte, Donna Karan (DKNY), and Vena Cava will also grace the catwalk, serving to promote the Be EcoChic™ campaign goal of raising awareness of the environmental implications of our lifestyles through the influence of fashion.

By being a visible part of the Be EcoChic™ campaign, INVISTA is showing its commitment to help in reducing the impact of apparel products and meeting the needs of the apparel industry and consumers worldwide. Other sponsors include Neutrogena, Sierra Club and Mercedes-Benz.
