INVISTA Waynesboro Sponsors Second of Two Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days for 2008
WAYNESBORO, Va. - September 17, 2008 - The INVISTA Waynesboro site is sponsoring its second of two household hazardous waste collection days for this year on Saturday, September 20th in an effort to serve the community and assist with environmental excellence. The event will be held from 8:30 am to 12:00 noon at the Augusta County Government Center, Verona.
The INVISTA Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day allows residents (households only, no businesses due to EPA and Virginia regulations) in Augusta County, Waynesboro, and Staunton to bring materials that they cannot throw away to the collection center. INVISTA will supply the proper drums for collection, OSHA and RCRA (Resource Conservation Recovery Act) personnel to manage proper collection of wastes, transportation to its site, temporary storage, and proper disposal by a certified transport, storage, and disposal facility. "INVISTA is pleased to be able to continue to provide this service to the community. We think this event provides a safe venue for disposal and assists with a cleaner environment for the whole community," said Marty Siebken, INVISTA Waynesboro process control engineer.
"We believe in environmental excellence and giving back to the community," said Michael Laczynski, INVISTA Waynesboro site manager. "We are pleased to be able to meet the community's need by providing this service twice this year. Input from area officials is that they have significant value for this program as they do not have the resources that we have in place to handle, transport, and send waste for disposal."
