INVISTA to showcase alternative solvents at ISSA 2010FlexiSolv™ microemulsions and DBE® esters designed to meet cleaning industry needsINVISTA is featuring its recently-launched line of alternative solvents, including FlexiSolv™ microemulsions and DBE® esters, at ISSA’s INTERCLEAN trade show in Orlando Nov. 10-12. "In a market facing increasing attention and regulation around many ingredient chemicals, INVISTA’s FlexiSolv™ solvent solutions offer attractive alternative solvents to end users as well as formulators in the cleaning industry," said Nadine de Vries, vice president of INVISTA’s Emerging Solvents business. After introducing the product family to the European market this spring, INVISTA continued its global launch, attracting customers from Asia, Europe, South America and North America. "While some of our newest formulations are still in the sampling stage, we’ve had hundreds of potential customers express interest in these products," de Vries said. "In fact, given the interest already shown in the cleaning market, we are now starting to scale up in anticipation of commercial demand." FlexiSolv™ solvent solutions include a line of water-dilutable microemulsions, a semi-formulated product that can be combined with a wide variety of other solvents and additives without losing its stability. In addition to the microemulsions, INVISTA is offering its FlexiSolv™ DBE® esters, a product that has met the needs of the cleaning market for more than 30 years. FlexiSolv™ DBE® esters offer excellent solvency, slow evaporation, high flashpoint and are readily biodegradable. "We’re in the business of providing this market with alternative solvent solutions," de Vries said. "Our products are designed to serve our customers’ needs, not only for performance and affordability but also for desirable regulatory, health and environmental attributes." While the properties of each product are unique, the ingredients in FlexiSolv™ solvent solutions were screened through an extensive set of regulatory and environmental, health, and safety criteria. Attributes of products within the family of FlexiSolv™ solvent solutions include biodegradable [OECD methods], non-flammable [GHS Chapter 2.6], not regulated as VOCs [EU Solvent Emissions Directive 1999/13/EC, US VOC Exemption for consumer products EPA 40 CFR 59.203(f)1], and are listed on most international chemical inventories. In addition, none of the known components are listed as carcinogens [According to NTP, IARC, ACGIH, EU - Dangerous Substances Directive (67/548/EEC) - Annex I, and California Proposition 65]. FlexiSolv™ solvent solutions have applications in paint stripping, graffiti removal, floor cleaning, degreasing, flux cleaning, resin cleaning, adhesive removal, and ink removal, among others.
